The Onlooker!

Lord BudhaI, the onlooker
I stand tall, looking at them all
The ones coming for salvation,
The ones coming for enlightenment
Some in search of truth,
And some in search for themselves.

They come to me, bow down
Thinking that I am the master to comfort them all
But, me, I am just an onlooker
A statue made of stones
Looking through my grey eyes,
I see the rich, I see the deprived
The ones returning for more,
The ones amazed to see me for the first time.

I hear voices of all
The prayers, the songs
Some chanting all day long
Some light candles,
Some light incense sticks.

All have their own way
They want answers, they want directions
So, they come to me
But, they don’t realize
They are my creators,
They are the ones who made me

The answers they seek, only they can see
To reach their destination, their own paths, they have to weave
They have the power to control their lives,
They have the power to become what they want to be
They are the ones gifted with muscles and bones

Me, I am just an onlooker
A statue made of stones…!
